IELTS SPEAKING PREDICTION QUESTION LIST JANUARY – APRIL 2022

Notice: This question list is not an official release by any IELTS test organizations, so it is advisable not to completely rely on these questions for your test preparation.

Part 1

1. Home/ accommodation

What kind of housing/accommodation do you live in? Who do you live with? How long have you lived there? What’s the difference between where you are living now and where you have lived in the past? Do you plan to live there for a long time? Which room does your family spend most of the time in? Are the transport facilities to your home very good? Do you prefer living in a house or a flat? Please describe the room you live in. What part of your home do you like the most?  

2. Study

Describe your education What is your area of specialization? Why did you choose to study that major? Do you like your major? (Why?/Why not?) What kind of school did you go to as a child? What was your favourite subject as a child? Do you think your country has an effective education system? Are you looking forward to working?  

3. Work

What do you do? What are your responsibilities? Why did you choose to do that type of work (or, that job)? Is there some other kind of work you would rather do? Describe the company or organization you work for Do you enjoy your work? What do you like about your job? What do you dislike about your job (Possibly)Do you miss being a student?  

4. Cinema

Did you usually go to the cinema when you were a kid? Do you usually go to the cinema with your friends? Do you still like watching the movie which you liked when you were a kid?  

5. Watching Sports

Do you like watching programs on TV? Do you watch live sports games? How often do you watch live sports  

6. Dreams

Do you often remember your dreams? Do you want to make your dreams come true? Do you share your dreams with others? or are you interested in others’ dreams? Do you think dreams have special meanings?  

7. History

Do you like to learn about history? What historical event do you find interesting? Do you think history is important?  

8. Sweets & Cakes

Do you like to eat sweets? Do you like sweets more or less now compared to when you were child? Is there any sweet food in your country? Do you eat cakes or sweets after a meal?  

9. Handwriting

Do you like handwriting? Do you think handwriting is important? Which do you prefer, handwriting or typing? What’s the difference between handwriting and typing?  

10. Email

Do you think sending emails will be more or less popular in the future? How often do you write an email or a letter? What kinds of email (or letter) you received that make you feel happy?  

11. Websites

What kinds of websites do you usually use? What changes compared to the past? What kinds of websites are popular in your country?  

12. Weekend

What do other people in your hometown usually do on weekends? What will you do next weekend? Did you do anything special last weekend? What do you usually do on weekends?  

13. Mirrors

Do you like looking at yourself in the mirror? How often? Have you ever bought mirrors? Do you usually take a mirror with you? Would you use mirrors to decorate your room?  

14. Drawing and Art galleries

Do you like drawing? Do you like to go to the gallery? Do you want to learn artistic things?  

15. Taking photos

Do you like taking photos? Do you take a mirror with you? Do you want to improve your picture taking skills?  

16. Daily Routine

Do you have study routines? What’s your routine like in your everyday study? Do you want to change your daily routines in the future?  

17. Shopping at street markets

What do people usually buy on the street markets? Why do you think people go to street markets? When you travel abroad, do you go to street markets?  

18. Mobile/ Cell phones

Do you have a mobile phone? What do you often use it for? How often do you change a mobile phone?  

19. New places

Do you feel nervous when you travel to new places? Can you read a map when you travel to new places? Have you ever helped someone who got lost?  

20. Getting Lost

Have you ever lost your way? How can you find your way when you are lost? Can you read a map when you get lost? Have you ever helped someone who got lost?  

21. Colours

What’s your favourite colour? What’s the colour you dislike? Why? What colours do your friend like most? What colour makes you uncomfortable in your room?  

22. Public gardens and Parks

Would you like to play in a public garden or park? What do you like to do when visiting a park? How have parks changed today compared to the time when you were a kid? Would you prefer to play in a personal garden or public garden?  

23. Concentration

Is it difficult for you to stay focused on something? What do you do to help you concentrate? What may distract you when you’re trying to stay focused? When do you need to be focused?  

24. Pets and Animals

Do you like to see animals in the zoo? What’s your favorite animal? Why? Have you ever had a pet before? What animals would you like to have as pets? Where do you prefer to keep your pet, indoors or outdoors?  

25. App

What app have you recently used? What kinds of apps are you usually interested in? What was the first app used?  

26. Weather

What kind of weather do you like most? What’s the weather like in your hometown? Do you like the weather in your hometown? Do you prefer dry or wet weather?  

27. Spending time with others

Do you like talking with people? How do you like spending time with your friends? Would you prefer to study alone or with others? Do you remember a time when you need to cooperate with others?  

28. TV Program

Do you talk with your friends about the program you watched? Do you like watching the same kind of program all the time? Do you often watch programs on the TV or on your cellphone? What kind of TV programs do you like?  

29. Maths

Do students learn maths in secondary schools in VietNam? Do you learn maths now? Why, Why not? What can people do with maths in their daily life? Do you think maths is difficult?  

30. Science

Do you like science? When did you start to learn about science? Which science subject is interesting to you? What kinds of interesting things you have done with science?  

31. Shoes

Do you like buying shoes? How often? Have you ever bought shoes online? How much do you usually spend on shoes? Which do you prefer, fashionable shoes or comfortable shoes? What kinds of apps would you like to use in the future?  

32. Headphones and Microphones

Do you use headphones? What type of headphones do you use? When would you use headphones? In what conditions, you won’t use headphones?  

33. Cars

Did you enjoy traveling by cars when you were a kid? What type of car do you like? Do you prefer to be a driver or a passenger What do you usually do when there is a traffic jam?  

34. Lost and found

What will you do if you find something lost by others? Do you report to the police when finding something lost by the others? Why? Have you ever lost things? Will you post on social media if you lose item?  

35. Time management

How do you plan your time in a day? Is it easy to manage time for you? When do you find it hard to allocate time? Do you like being busy?  

36. Memory

Why do some people have good memory while others just don’t? Why do more people rely on cellphones to memorize things? Are you good at memorizing things? Have you forgotten something that was important?  

Part 2

1. Describe an item of clothing that someone gave you

You should say: What the clothing was Who gave it to you? When you got it And explain why this person gave you the clothing Part 3: Have you ever given clothes to others? Why do people dress casually everyday but dress formally at work? Why do people from different countries wear different clothing? What are the advantages and disadvantages of wearing uniforms at work and school?  

2. Describe a lesson that you remember well

You should say: What the course was about Where you had it Why you remember it And explain why it impressed you a lot Part 3: Which can help you remember things better, words or photos? Why do some people have better memory? Why can some people remember some little things in life?  

3. Describe an interesting discussion that you had with friends

You should say: Who you spoke with Where you were What the conversation was about And explain why you think it was interesting Part 3: When do children normally form their own views? Do children have strong opinions? Should parents request their kids to obey them? In what industries do you think communication is a necessary skill?  

4. Describe a time when you were preparing for a happy event

You should say: What the event was Where you had it Who helped you to organize it And how you feel about it Part3: How can parents help children to get organized? On what occasions do people need to be organized?  

5. Describe a situation when something in your house was broken or stopped working

You should say: What it was? What happened? When it broke/stopped working? And explain how did you fell about it? Part 3: What are the common home appliances that people use these days? Do you think modern technology makes people lazier? What can people do to protect their equipment from technical problems? When an electronic item of yours does not work, would you repair it or buy a new one? Are you good at handling problems on your own?  

6. Describe a place in the countryside that you visited

You should say: Where it is When you visited this place What you did there And explain how you feel about this place Part 3: Is there anything special about the countryside in Vietnam? What do people usually do when going to the countryside? Do you think people will live in the countryside in the future?  

7. Describe a historical event from your country

You should say: What event it is When it happened Who or what was involved in it And explain why you think it is an important historical event Part 3: Do your parents think learning history is important? 2. What are the benefits of museums? Are museums in your country free of charge? 4. Which way is better for learning history? Through reading books or visiting museums? 5. Do major cities in your country all have museums?  

8. Describe a time when you gave some helpful advice to someone

You should say Who you gave advice to? What the advice was? Why you gave the advice? And how you felt about the advice? Part 3: What kind of advice do parents give to their children? How do experts give advice to others? (e.g a doctor gives advice to patients) What advice do parents give to teenagers about making friends? Whose advice is more helpful? Parents’ or friends’?  

9. Describe a time when you felt proud of a family member

You should say: When it happened Who the person is What the person did And explain why you felt proud of him/her Part 3: When would parents feel proud of their children? Should parents reward children? Why and how? Is it good to reward children too often? Why? On what occasions would adults be proud of themselves?  

10. Describe your favourite famous person

You should say: Who this person is. How you know about this person. What this person is famous for. Why you are interested in this person. Part 3: Would you like to be a famous person? What are the hardships of a celebrity? What should celebrities do to protect their privacy?  

11. Describe a useful skill you learned from an older person

You should say: What it is Why the skill can be learned from older people How you will learn the skill from older people And explain how you will feel if you master the skill Part3: What can children learn from their parents or grandparents? From whom can children learn more, parents or grandparents? What kind of help do you think older people need?  

12. Describe a long walk you ever had

You should say: When this happened Where you walked Who you were with And explain how you felt about this long walk Part 3: What outdoor activities do people like? What are the differences between the outdoor activities children did in the past and now? Is leisure time important to everyone? Why? Do women have more leisure time than men?  

13. Describe a special cake you received from others

You should say: When it happened Where it happened Who you got the cake from And explain why it’s a special cake Part 3: What are the differences between the special food in Vietnam and foreign countries? Do people usually cook special food in Vietnam? Should special food be easily available?  

14. Describe a story someone told you and you remember

You should say: What the story was about Who told you this story Why you remember it And how you feel about it Part 3: Do young children like the same stories as older children? How has technology changed storytelling?

15. Describe a thing you cannot live without except cell phone or computer

You should say: What it is Why you can’t manage without it How long you have had it for And explain how you felt when you were without it? Part 3: Why do you think teenagers always want to have the latest devices such as the iPhone? Why do they often buy a new one even though they already have one? What do they do with the old one after buying a new one? How hard is it for parents to convince their children not to buy an expensive phone?  

16. Describe a gift you would like to buy for your friend

You should say: When it happened What gift it was Who you gave it to And explain why you chose that gift Part 3: When do people normally send gifts to others? Do people give gifts or red packets on traditional festivals? Is it easy to choose clothes as gifts? Will people feel happy when receiving an expensive gift?  

17. Describe about a selfie which you catch in your mobile phone on your favourite occasion

You should say: When you took it What type of camera you used Why you took the photo And explain whether you liked this photo or not. Part 3: Do Vietnam people like to take photos of themselves? What kinds of devices do people like to use for taking photos these days? How often do young people take photos when travelling?  

18. Describe a place you visited on vacation

You should say: Where it is When you went there What you did there And explain why you went there Part 3: What are some popular attractions that people like to visit in your country? Do old people and young people choose different places to go on vacation? Why? What do young people and old people think about when making travel plans? How do people get to know a new place?  

19. Something important to you that your family has had for a long time.

You should say What it is When your family had it How your family got it And explain why it is important for your family Part 3: What things do familes keep for a long time? What’s the difference between things valued by people in the past and today? What kinds of things are kept in museums? What’s the influence of technology on museums?  

20. Describe a café you’d like to visit

You should say: Where it is What kinds of food and drinks it serves Who you usually go there with And explain why you like to go there Part 3: Do old people like to drink coffee? Do Vietnamese people like to drink coffee? What kind of people would like to go to coffee? Why do young people like studying in a café instead of at home?  

21. Describe a song that you think is interesting

You should say: What the song is What story the song tells Whether the song is popular And explain why you think it is interesting Part 3: Why are music competitions popular in VietNam? What kinds of music do people like?  

22. Describe a person that you enjoy spending time with

You should say: Who this person is How you knew him/her What you usually do together And explain why you like to spend time with him/her Part 3: What kinds of people are easy to get along with? How do leaders get along with their subordinates? Do people have time for themselves nowadays?  

23. Describe a toy that you often played with as a child

You should say: What the toy was? How old you were when you had it? Did you play with the toy by yourself or with other kids? And explain how you felt about this particular toy. Part 3: What kind of toys was famous in your childhood? How about these days? Do you think parents should buy more toys their children or they should spend more time with them instead?  

24. Describe a rule (in school or work) that you don’t like

You should say: What it is Why you don’t like it How others feel about the rule And explain whether you’ve followed the rule Part 3: What are the rules students should follow at school? Are the rules at school good or bad? Do people often violate the rules in Viet Nam? What rules should children follow at home?  

25. Describe a time when you received something without having to pay for it

You should say: What the gift was When you got this gift Where you had it How you felt about it Part 3: Do you like giving gifts? What gifts would parents give to children? What factors do parents consider when choosing a gift for children? What kinds of free gifts do they give? Why do people feel happy when they receive free gifts? Do you think our government should provide free gifts for our citizens?  

26. Describe a skill that was difficult for you to learn

You should say: When you learned it Why you learned it How you learned it How you felt when you learned it Part 3: What skills do students need to master? Is it hard for students to learn skills?
